After the successful launch of Coloured Gem Professional Level 1 in English last
December, Gübelin Academy has now achieved an important milestone by delivering its
informative and inspiring courses about emeralds, sapphires and rubies in Cantonese.
The very first Cantonese classes were just completed last night on the 7th May.
The Academy offers comprehensive courses and seminars on coloured gemstones,
delivered in the unique inspirational Gübelin style by tutors with an extensive teaching and
gemmology experience, sharing the knowledge and the expertise gained by Gübelin over
the past 160 years.
Through knowledgeable, passionate and inspiring teaching, Gübelin Academy aims not
just to inform but also to inspire, so the courses emphasize both the practical and the
emotional aspects of the fascinating world and history of emeralds, sapphires and rubies.
Gübelin Academy offers a unique fast- track training into the wonderful world of coloured
gems, the most precious and colourful commodities in the world. Amongst other aspects,
participants are being taught how to evaluate their value by quality, rarity and colour.
The English courses are targeting gemstone enthusiasts, collectors and connoisseurs as
well as professionals, both wholesale and retail, from all over South East Asia as well as
Europe and USA. The Academy has established an international clientele and the
Cantonese course is attracting a high level of interest from local professionals and
collectors looking to broaden their knowledge of coloured gemstones from a world
authority on the subject
“After attending Gubelin Coloured Gem Professional course, I had a direct access to the
fantastic yet mysterious world of gems. The instructor gave us very detailed theoretical and
practical explanations on rubies, emeralds and sapphires from various perspectives such as
their nature, characteristics, history, value and she even showed us how to appreciate them.
I really learned a great deal and I am looking forward to attending the level 2 and level 3.”
Comments Delia Shum, one of the students of Gübelin Academy in Hong Kong.
Helen Molesworth, Gübelin Academy Managing Director emphasizes that the feedbacks
are overwhelming as all participants have already asked to be enrolled for Level 2 which
will be launched towards the end of the year. “We are very happy to get such an optimistic
response and I am delighted that our unique approach satisfies both professionals and
enthusiasts of coloured stones“ she says.
