At OROAREZZO 2019, the Premiere contest jury has announced the
winners, awarding 12 companies for 4 different categories: creativity & design, innovation &
trends, art & sculpture, special mention.
Premiere, the contest that spotlights the season’s new ideas, designs and fashion trends, is
the most highly awaited event at OROAREZZO, the Italian gold and jewellery show, organized
by IEG, Italian Exhibition Group.
To celebrate the Show’s 40th anniversary, Beppe Angiolini, Honorary President of the National
Chamber of Fashion Buyers and Art Director of OROAREZZO and Gold/Italy, selected the ring
as this year’s main theme: the most loved item of jewellery, perhaps the oldest and most
solemn, laden with symbolic meanings and charm. Timeless jewels and icons of style that
are constantly re-invented to express the personality of the wearer.
Competing in the contest were 60 rings that go beyond fashion, alternating a wealth of detail
and minimalist simplicity of shape, with the power of symbolic content that the ring has always
been attributed.
From classic rings to those with bands, from twisted to modular rings or those with pavé, from
fashion versions in elastic fabric, to those with seals or personalized engravings, from those
made of precious or poor materials and those with precious or synthetic stones.
As is the custom, participating companies were asked to create an item of jewellery that would
express the brand’s style with maximum creativity. A creation that would be inspired by
traditional shapes re-interpreted in unconventional ways, with maximum freedom in the
choice of materials and processing techniques.
The competing items were then judged by a select jury made up of internationally famous
fashion journalists, designers and influencers, presided over by Beppe Angiolini: Paola
Cacianti, fashion journalist and author of Top, a programme aired by RAI 1, Eva Desiderio,
journalist for QN – Quotidiano Nazionale, Fabiana Giacomotti, author and curator at La
Sapienza University in Rome, Federica Frosini, Editor-in-Chief for VO+ Jewellery Magazine,
Jo Squillo, journalist and influencer, and fashion designers Ermanno Scervino, Monica
Sarti and Eva Cavalli.
Displayed for the duration of the Show in a purpose-built installation in the Expo Centre’s
central corridor, as usual the items selected were the Show’s star attraction.
